Lankan Rupee has four rivals in G1 Moir

Wednesday 24 September 2014, 11:52am

Star sprinter Lankan Rupee will face just four rivals as he bids to bounce back to the winner's circle in the Group One Moir Stakes at Moonee Valley.

Lankan Rupee suffered a shock first-up defeat in the McEwen Stakes at the same track and his conqueror that day, Angelic Light, is among his opposition again on Friday night.

She jumps from barrier five while the Mick Price-trained Lankan Rupee, a three-time Group One winner this year, has barrier two and will start alongside Queensland champion Buffering who has gate three.

A triple Group One winner, Buffering won the Moir two years ago when it was a Group Two and was second to the Price-trained Samaready last year.

Sydney visitor Rebel Dane has barrier four while Unpretentious has drawn the rails.
