Trainer Gillian Heinrich has vowed not to make the same mistake twice with her smart mare Shiraz Attack.
Heinrich scratched Shiraz Attack from Wednesday's Ipswich meeting to take on stronger company in the Brisbane Produce Market Handicap (1200m) at Doomben on Saturday.
Shiraz Attack was expected to be one of Queensland's main contenders in the three-year-old features during the Brisbane winter carnival.
However, Heinrich ended her campaign after Shiraz Attack disappointed when she was unplaced behind Hopfgarten in the Gunsynd Classic at Eagle Farm in April.
"I made a mistake with her. The Magic Millions prize money was so good I got her ready for those races and then I had to rush her for the winter," Heinrich said.
"It wasn't fair to her and I blame myself.
"I should have forgotten the Millions races and given her a nice long break for the winter. I won't make the mistake of rushing her again."
Shiraz Attack has had an easy trial leading into Saturday's race and Heinrich expects her to run well.
"But you would expect her to be better when the distances get a bit longer. She is a lovely big filly and I was a bit worried sending her around Ipswich when the false rail was out 8-1/2 metres."
Shiraz Attack is one of six rides in a handy book for international jockey Robbie Fradd on Saturday.
Shiraz Attack faces a better-than-average fillies and mares field at Doomben.
Trainer Trevor Thomas hopes his mare Ellawisdom can repeat the effort which resulted in her clocking just under 33.5 seconds for her final 600m sectional when fourth over 1050m at Doomben two weeks ago.
"If it had been at Eagle Farm or Caloundra with a longer straight she would have won for sure," Thomas said.
The race also heralds the return of Kelly Schweida's handy mare Little Bit Ditsy who hasn't started since she finished down the track in the Doomben Roses in May.
Little Bit Ditsy, a previous first-up winner, has not had an official barrier trial but she did have a recent jump-out in preparation for Saturday's assignment.
