Brenton Avdulla will miss Sydney's biggest spring meeting after being suspended for careless riding in the Group One Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes.
Avdulla pleaded guilty to careless riding for shifting in aboard Sistine Demon at the 1000m mark of Sunday's Group One race at Caulfield.
The incident was deemed in the low range but Avdulla's penalty of eight meetings rules him out of Saturday's Epsom day which features three Group One races.
Avdulla said he was booked to ride Deane Martin, winner of Saturday's Colin Stephen Quality, in the Group One Metropolitan and also one of the Team Hawkes runners in the Group One Epsom.
He has three days to decide whether to appeal the penalty.
Stewards took into account his guilty plea and good record, but also noted the careless riding came in a Group One race.
Avdulla's penalty starts immediately and runs until after next Sunday.
