G1 Guineas not all one-way traffic: Boss

Friday 10 October 2014, 4:40pm

Ever-confident Glen Boss is not giving the Caulfield Guineas to the favourite Rich Enuff.

Boss rode God's Own to win the 2007 Guineas and he believes Chivalry will benefit from a genuinely run 1600m and a deep draw on Saturday.

Chivalry made a winning return following a spell when successful in the Vain Stakes at Caulfield on August 16 before running second in the Living Legends over 1400m at Flemington on September 13.

A slow pace and a track that made it difficult to make ground counted against him when sixth in the Bill Stutt Stakes at Moonee Valley at his latest outing.

"Rich Enuff is the benchmark there at the minute but I'm not conceding defeat in any way," Boss said.

"I think I've got the rest of them covered. It's now just down to see who's the best over the mile."

"I'm confident my bloke is going to be really strong at the mile."

Boss will partner Chivalry's stablemate Pickin' Time in the $500,000 Thousand Guineas.

Still a maiden after five runs, Boss believes the Mark Kavanagh-trained filly will be a better galloper in the autumn.

"We're having a throw at the stumps there tomorrow but I think she's still four or six months from being at her best," he said.
