Spring over for G1 winner Hallowed Crown

Tuesday 14 October 2014, 5:46pm

Golden Rose winner Hallowed Crown will miss the Melbourne spring carnival in favour of the spelling paddock.

Hallowed Crown was being aimed at the Group One Coolmore Stud Stakes but co-trainer James Cummings said it was in the colt's best interests to call an end to his campaign.

"The Golden Rose was the goal for Hallowed Crown this spring," Cummings said.

"Anything more would have been a bonus, so we will do what is best for the colt and rest him while he's in good shape."

Hallowed Crown defeated Scissor Kick in the $1 million Golden Rose but was beaten for the first time in his five-start career when unplaced in the Roman Consul Stakes at Randwick.
