Group One winning trainer trainer Kelso Wood ended a frustrating run of outs when Gotyacovered won at Ipswich on Wednesday.
Wood has been one of Queensland's top trainers for 30 years and has won Group One races with horses such as Unequalled and Sizzling.
However, Gotyacovered's win in the Les Scott and Associates Hcp (1100m) was his first metropolitan class winner since Seeking More won at Doomben on April 12.
He won a provincial race at the Sunshine Coast with Yoho in August but has had 22 runners pick up minor prize money since April.
Gotyacovered is bred along middle distance lines being by Wonderful World out of a Carnegie mare Carnegie Minstrel.
Jockey Michael Cahill took first starter Gotyacovered to the lead and he held on to beat Sharday by a nose.
"It was a good fighting win from a first starter," Cahill said.
Trainer Darren Bell was bemused by Sharday's narrow defeat.
"She has now collected a prize money cheque at 14 of her 19 starts but just can't win," he said.
Gold Coast galloper Wonderful Jester ($5) upset a big plunge on Toowoomba galloper Treasure Map in the Class Five (1350m) on the program.
Treasure May was backed from $3.30 to $2.20 but had no luck in the run before finishing second.
Jockey Jim Byrne reported Treasure Map was caught deep from his wide alley and then pushed deep on the home turn.
