Hong Kong-based jockey Joao Moreira will be staying home after his Caulfield Cup mount Gris Caro was scratched on Thursday.

Moreira was offered the mount on second emergency Araldo in the $3 million race, but knocked it back.

The champion jockey had three other rides on the 10-event Caulfield program.

Moreira has been sidelined for the past three meetings in Hong Kong through suspension and returns to the saddle at Sha Tin on Sunday.

His Caulfield rides were Chiquada, Kingdoms and Nicamorae.
