Dear Demi scratched from G1 Caulfield Cup

Friday 17 October 2014, 2:31pm

Last year's third placegetter Dear Demi is out of the Caulfield Cup with a throat infection, giving fourth emergency Renew a start.

The withdrawal of the Clarry Conners-trained John Singleton-owned mare comes after the scratchings of Dandino and Gris Caro on Thursday due to injury and Japanese horse Bande on Friday with a tendon problem.

The Gai Waterhouse-trained Sydney Cup winner The Offer has passed a vet inspection after being lame earlier this week and will be examined again on course on Saturday.

The inclusion of Renew gives Simon O'Donnell and Terry Henderson's OTI Racing three runners after they originally had just one - Lidari.

First emergency Brambles gained a start with Thursday's defections.
