Nolen suspended, Purton fined after Cup

Saturday 18 October 2014, 8:35pm

Luke Nolen will miss the Cox Plate meeting after pleading guilty to careless riding in the Caulfield Cup on Brambles.

Nolan was suspended for 10 meetings, starting on Monday, and he can return to riding on October 29.

Zac Purton was fined $3000 for breaching the whip rules on Caulfield Cup winner Admire Rakti.

Purton used the whip 13 times before the 100m, eight more than allowed in Australia.

He was fined $1500 for that breach and another $1500 for using the whip in consecutive strides.
