Hong Kong-based Brazilian jockey Joao Moreira always knew about the hype surrounding the Melbourne Cup.
And having had a taste of it on Tuesday, he can't wait for more.
Moreira rode fourth-placed Signoff and said riding in the Melbourne Cup was the best experience he has had in horse racing.
"Everybody said to me that this is a special race to be riding in and being a part of it didn't let me down," he said.
Moreira flew in from Singapore his former valet Anthony Dass to be a part of the day but unfortunately Signoff couldn't produce a fairytale result for the pair.
"My horse had a beautiful run through the race," Moreira said.
"Just before turning for home I got a bit of a bump from the horse on the inside of me and pushed me a little bit wide," he said.
"That didn't change the result of the race as I couldn't get past the second horse Red Cadeaux.
"He ran a very good race for me and I have to say thank you to all those people that brought me over.
"Everything went well, not the best, but we should be proud of it."
