BlueBlood Double on Melbourne Cup Day

Thursday 6 November 2014, 7:33pm

It’s always exciting having a runner go around on Melbourne Cup Day, but to have two to race for two winners is something else.

The atmosphere is no doubt electric no matter where you are on that first Tuesday of November, but to saddle up two winners just added to the excitement.

Justiceforall was the first to salute for trainers John and Chris Ledger when he outstayed his rivals in race 2 (2010m) at Wangaratta.  The son of Not A Single Doubt took up the running in the first half of the race before giving up the lead to settle in second place.

Linda Meech settled him nicely throughout the run and he responded well claiming the lead early in the straight. He fought off a late challenge from Superior Command to post his second win by a neck.

Sebring mare Shebrings Class posted her first win shortly after, impressively taking out the 4th race at Kembla Grange. It was her first start for new trainer Michael Costa who has done a remarkable job of turning her around.

Shebrings Class was a little slow to begin but young apprentice Ms Rachael Murray was quick to get her into a nice position third on the fence. She was a little keen heading around the home bend and was held up for a run in the straight, but Rachael kept her cool and when the split finally came at the 200m mark, Shebrings Class exploded and dashed away from them to win by 1 length.

For many of our owners, it felt like they had won the Melbourne Cup and that feeling is one they will remember for a long time to come.

You too can experience that same feeling by being part of a winning team. BlueBlood Thoroughbreds have shares available in quality thoroughbreds by Denman, Wanted and Sebring. Visit www.bluebloodthoroughbreds.com.au for more information.
