The well-bred Hauraki has stamped himself as an autumn prospect for Godolphin, producing his best work late to win over 1400 metres at Randwick.
A Reset half-brother to South Australian Derby winner, Hauraki lived up to his $2.70 favouritism in the Benchmark 70 for three-year-olds to claim his second win from as many starts.
He was back at the tail of the field in the run for home and Sam Clipperton had to bring him off the fence to find a gap.
Once in the clear, Hauraki lengthened stride and went to the post three-quarters of a length ahead of Good Project ($5).
The colt spent his early days with Guy Walter and was moved to John O'Shea after the trainer's sudden death in May.
"Guy had him first and John has tried to continue with him in the same way by having him ridden quietly," John O'Shea's foreman Brad Widdup said.
"He is very well related being a half-brother to Kidnapped and Academus and I'm not sure whether John will keep him going or put him away now to get ready for the autumn.
"He is definitely headed for bigger things."
Clipperton said he did as O'Shea instructed and rode the colt patiently.
"He is a super horse," he said.
"It was a muddling tempo and I had to be really patient but when I got him going, he showed a devastating turn of foot and won with authority."
Hauraki produced a similar finish to win his debut at Kembla Grange last month.
