Injury cost Mouro the chance to compete in the Melbourne spring carnival and his trainer Tony McEvoy is looking forward to getting him back to the track.
Subject to a solid gallop on Tuesday, Mouro will make his comeback at Rosehill four days later as the top rater in the November Hcp (1350m).
On the corresponding Saturday last year, Mouro backed up his Sale Cup win with victory in the Group Three Eclipse Stakes at Caulfield.
He returned from a summer break to win another Group Three race at Flemington in March but three starts later he was hurt in the Hawkesbury Cup.
"He had joint surgery after the Hawkesbury Cup and seems to have come through it well," McEvoy said.
"He ran third in a barrier trial which was pleasing but you can never tell for sure until you put them under race pressure.
"I think he will run on Saturday but I just want to give him a good gallop on Tuesday to make sure."
Mouro was one of 14 entries taken on Monday for the race and will be ridden by Lester Grace.
His 106 rating is five points higher than Scream Machine with That's A Good Idea next on 99.
From the stable of Peter and Paul Snowden, That's A Good Idea got away to a bad start in the Group Two tab.com.au (1200m) at Flemington last Saturday week, finishing 10 lengths from the winner Deep Field.
That's A Good Idea also ran into Deep Field when three lengths second in last month's City Tattersalls Lightning.
While Mouro was missing from the Melbourne spring, McEvoy ended the carnival on a high when Le Roi and Big Memory ran first and third in Saturday's Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2500m).
Big Memory missed a Melbourne Cup start by one spot with McEvoy among those calling for emergencies to be installed.
"The Queen Elizabeth result didn't surprise me," he said.
"Le Roi was set for the race while it was an afterthought for Big Memory.
"I think Le Roi can be a weight-for-age horse for a race like the BMW while Big Memory is more of a handicapper.
