A fresher Moment Of Change will try to turn around his Perth fortunes when he contests the Winterbottom Stakes at Ascot.
The Peter Moody-trained six-year-old finished second to Buffering in last year's race and is booked to fly out on Friday to contest Perth's premier sprint.
After two starts at Caulfield earlier in the spring, Moment Of Change suffered a back complaint in the second of those outings when last in the Memsie Stakes and didn't race for eight weeks.
On return, Moment Of Change was beaten less than a length when eighth in the Manikato Stakes on October 24 before running fifth to Terravista in the Darley Classic last Saturday.
Moody said Moment Of Change heads to Perth fresher this time around after a hectic spring last year and added the gelding may back up in the AJ Scahill Stakes (1400m) on December 6.
While better placed at 1400m, Moody is expecting a forward showing in the Winterbottom.
"He's getting a bit long in the tooth to be chasing those younger ones over 1200 metres these days," Moody said.
"He'll run in the Winterbottom and there's a 1400-metre weight-for-age race a fortnight later that he may run in depending on what he does.
"He's still on the way up this campaign as he had a month off after he hurt his back and his run the other day in the Darley was good."
Following his Perth campaign, Moody said Moment Of Change would return to Melbourne for a shot at the Orr Stakes and Futurity Stakes, both over 1400m at Caulfield in February, a double he completed last year.
While Moody is looking ahead to the Perth trip he was saddened to hear of the death of his former Geelong Cup winner Ibicenco who was euthanised on Tuesday following a paddock accident.
Joining Moment Of Change on the plane to Perth will be the Godolphin galloper Sidestep who finished a last-start eighth in the Darley Classic at Flemington.
Nash Rawiller, who can resume riding on November 22 after serving back-to-back suspensions incurred in Hong Kong and Melbourne, has been booked for the mount.
