Victory on Fast 'n' Rocking in the Group Three Heffernan Stakes at Sandown has clinched Dwayne Dunn the inaugural Spring Jockeys' Premiership.
Dunn went into the final meeting of Racing Victoria's Spring Racing Premierships trailing Damien Oliver in the standings but Oliver missed out because of suspension.
Points have been awarded on a 3-2-1 basis throughout the feature spring days since mid-September with bonus points in Group One races.
Dunn was six behind Oliver heading into Saturday and after two seconds in the first half of the card, Fast 'n' Rocking's narrow win secured him the title.
The winner gets $25,000 along with $25,000 nominated to their designated charity.
Dunn was riding for beyondblue, the not-for-profit organisation which works to raise awareness and understanding of anxiety and depression in Australia.
The jockey said it was close to his heart because he lost a friend to suicide when he was in his 20s.
"It's been great for everyone and it's a great incentive and it's great for the charities," Dunn said.
Fast 'n' Rocking is trained by David Hayes and Tom Dabernig who took out the Spring Premiership for trainers' with their $25,000 to charity going to Make-A-Wish Australia.
The training duo had a winning treble at the meeting including Petrology's dominant win in the Group Two Sandown Guineas.
Fast `n' Rocking had to fight to get the better of favourite Generalife, winning by a half-head with Flamberge a long neck away third.
"Since being gelded he's had a really good spring," Dabernig said.
