* Inducted into the Australian Racing Hall Of Fame in 2003
* 124 Group One wins, including five Melbourne Cups, four Caulfield Cups, four Golden Slippers and two Cox Plates
* Trained winners of the Melbourne Cup, Cox Plate and Caulfield Cup in 1992
* In 1989 Melbourne Cup trained winner Tawriffic and runner-up Super Impose
* Trained Makybe Diva to her unprecedented third successive Melbourne Cup in 2005
* Suspended for four months in 1995 for substituting a horse in a barrier trial
* Won seven Victorian metropolitan premierships
* First trainer with more than 100 Melbourne winners (115) in a season 2005-2006
* Retired from training in 2011, handing over his string of horses to youngest brother Anthony
* Went into a training partnership with Graeme Rogerson at Randwick before calling it quits in December, 2012
* Joined Lloyd Williams's Macedon Lodge as racing director in 2013
