Country trainer Neil Owen's decision to send promising galloper Lordag to a city stable continued to pay dividends at the Gold Coast on Wednesday.
Owen usually mixes his business as a pharmacy owner with owning and training horses at Oakey, west of Toowoomba.
He races his horses around Queensland's country tracks but when Lordag showed promise as an unraced horse he sent the gelding to top Brisbane trainer Rob Heathcote.
Lordag made it three wins from his five starts with a win in the Sip and Sup Club Handicap (1400m).
"He is a promising horse and things didn't go his way when they went slowly early," Heathcote said.
Heathcote believes Lordag can go on to be a Saturday city winner.
Trainer Kelly Doughty and her husband, former star jockey Gary Doughty, picked up expenses for their recent holiday cruise when Little Long Horn won Ozkleen Asia Pacific Handicap.
Little Long Horn was trapped three deep without cover but was far too strong in the last 200m.
The Doughtys are now likely to also take Little Long Horn to a Saturday city race.
