Payne cleared to resume trackwork

Michelle Payne has been given the green light to return to riding trackwork almost three months after being injured in a race fall.

The Group One winning jockey announced via Twitter on Wednesday that doctors had cleared her to resume riding work.

"All cleared for track work. Looking forward to getting back into it," Payne said in the tweet.

Payne has endured a horror run with race falls.

She fractured five vertebrae and broke several ribs in a spill at Donald in May which sidelined her for several months.

Not long after she returned to the saddle she suffered concussion and aggravated an old back injury at her most recent tumble at Ararat in September.

She is hoping to be back riding in races in January.
