Bell in winning farewell to Qld racing

Eureka Jack has been a source of frustration for punters but gave jockey Tim Bell a fitting farewell at Doomben on Monday.

Bell, 19, has made a pivotal career decision to move to Melbourne where he will ride at Flemington on Saturday after a successful stint in south-east Queensland in the past two years.

Eureka Jack ($7) gave trainer Kelly Schweida the second leg of a winning double when he weaved through the pack to overhaul Dolly Dolly ($7) to win by a short neck with Moment To Remember ($12) a length away third.

"It's good to finish on a winning note especially for Kelly who has been a big asset to my career," Bell said.

Eureka Jack has been an under-achiever this campaign but Schweida was confident the gelding could regain winning form.

"It wasn't an overly strong race and he's never worked or looked better than he has since his last run," he said.

"I thought his last run wasn't too bad and I decided to put the blinkers back on him. The jar out of the track was also in his favour today."
