Sessions out to bounce back at Rosehill

Two gear changes, a bigger field, and a genuine tempo.

They are the three things jockey Kerrin McEvoy is banking on to help Sessions return to his best form when he reunites with the colt at Rosehill on Saturday.

Sessions was an impressive debut winner with McEvoy aboard in April and trialled in great style before his late-spring return in Sydney.

The colt held on to win despite over-racing first-up and then weakened to finish out of the placings after going too fiercely in another small field at his next start.

McEvoy missed Sessions' past two races due to Melbourne spring carnival commitments.

"They were small-field races so hopefully the bigger field will see him get some cover and we'll see the horse that we know he is," McEvoy said.

"I rode him in a trial and in plenty of work since and he settled nicely in the trial behind a fast speed.

"Obviously he's got some ability so he's just got to do things correctly to show that."

Trainer Peter Snowden has decided to use a norton bit and a nose roll for Sessions which McEvoy said had been working well in trackwork.

The three-year-old is favourite against older horses in the Tab.com.au Handicap which has a field of 13.
