Legendary jockey Harry White has handed over his most prized silverware to the Victoria Racing Club, including his four Melbourne Cups.
The trophies are the highlight of the collection which also includes four Wirths Whips - a golden whip presented to the Melbourne Cup-winning jockey - his two Caulfield Cups and one Cox Plate along with riding gear and memorabilia.
To be known as `The Harry White Collection', it will be housed at Flemington and, in the short term, on show in the Flemington Heritage Centre and Chairman's Club.
White, 68, was this week awarded life membership of the VRC with his badge number of 74 reflecting the first of his Melbourne Cup victories in 1974.
White, who is the joint Melbourne Cup record holder for most wins by a jockey along with Bobbie Lewis, won Australia's most famous race aboard Think Big (twice), Arwon and Hyperno.
He amassed 60 Group One wins over a career spanning 35 years and claimed the Victorian jockeys' premiership in 1967-68, 1973-74, 1978-79 and 1980-81.
