South Island trainers Michael and Matthew Pitman say Another Coup is ready to give the best fillies of the north a shake in the New Zealand Oaks.
Another Coup is seeking to become the first southerner since Tartan Tights in 1995 to win the 2400m Group One classic at Trentham, and has won five of her last seven starts.
She faces a good field of fillies on Saturday but has beaten the southern colts and geldings in the Dunedin Guineas and has an open handicap win to her credit in the South Island.
"Her win in the Dunedin Guineas was pretty emphatic and she's been outstanding against the older horses in her last two starts," Matthew Pitman told NZ Racing Desk.
"This is a Group One and it's another step up again but her last few starts have been pretty impressive so we think she's got a good chance."
TAB bookies rate Another Coup a $12 chance in an even field where five horses are assessed as $10 chances or better.
Among those are Saavoya and Charmont, who are out to give the Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman stable their fourth group one in three weeks.
Saavoya is rated the better chance at $5 after having won a Group Race double at Ellerslie over Christmas before running second in both the Sir Tristram Classic and the Sunline Vase.
"We might just ride her back a bit more at Trentham," Baker said.
"She's fit and seasoned, she's just got to see the distance."
Charmont has placed in a number of the fillies races without winning one but Baker said she should stay.
