A stablemate of the Golden Slipper favourite with her own strong ties to the world's richest race for two-year-olds will be the centre of attention at Warwick Farm on Thursday.

Two-year-old Sempre Libera is by the same sire, Medaglia D'Oro, as Saturday's Golden Slipper favourite Vancouver.

To add to her impressive Slipper connections, her mother is the 1996 Golden Slipper winner Merlene.

And she has shown trainer Gai Waterhouse enough to suggest she is capable of making a winning start to her career in the Cal Rei Handicap (1100m).

The filly has had four barrier trials, finishing third to Golden Slipper hopeful Speak Fondly last month before a second over 1050m at Randwick and she shares the second line of betting at $6.

Waterhouse's racing manager Adrian Bott said Sempre Libera was a forward filly.

"We thought her trial behind Speak Fondly was a good trial. Even early on last preparation she showed she was forward beating Carriages in a trial and was doing that on natural ability.

"We put her away and gave her more time and she's come back much stronger this preparation.

"Gai has got a very good opinion of the filly and you'd expect her to be right in this tomorrow."

Sempre Libera was bred and is raced by John Camilleri who sold Vancouver as a yearling.

He bred and races Golden Slipper late entry Fireworks.

"He's having an outstanding year with the horses that he's bred," Bott said.

"We expect this filly to be no different.

"I think she'll have a forward showing tomorrow and be hard to beat."
