Siblings out to deliver Moses more success

Thursday 26 March 2015, 5:17pm

Kevin Moses is counting on a retired stallion, an ageing broodmare and some rain as the key factors in an unlikely metropolitan treble for the week.

Song And Laughter, a mare Moses described as "nuts" gave the trainer a Warwick Farm winner on Wednesday.

He is relying on her two younger siblings in Saddler's Flame and Singing Flame to bring stakes success to his small stable at Rosehill on Saturday.

Moses gives pensioned sire Song Of Tara most of the credit for the success he has had with the trio.

"Song Of Tara is out of service now but it's unbelievable what he has been able to achieve at stud," Moses said.

"He only got homebred mares. If he had got stakes mares he would be remembered as a top stallion."

The Air De France broodmare What A Giggle has also played an obvious role despite not making it to the races herself.

Moses had last year's Tulloch Stakes snatched from his grasp when Singing Flame was beaten in the final stride and he will try to win this year's edition with Saddler's Flame.

Singing Flame will run in the Neville Sellwood Stakes with Moses certain the four-year-old is a better chance than bookmakers rate him.

"Both my horses will run well, especially if the track is soft," Moses said.

Saddler's Flame and Singing Flame are rated at $51 and $35 respectively, bringing the odds of a Moses-Song Of Tara-What A Giggle city treble for the week in at almost 18,000-1.
