After missing out by a fraction of a second earlier this month in the race for a new car in Moonee Valley's 55 second challenge, trainer Jason Warren has produced a new contender for the prize.
Oamaru Princess displayed the sort of blistering speed in her victory over 1000m at Mornington on Thursday that would put her in contention for one the Valley's 955m challenge races.
And according to Warren, a win would be thoroughly deserved.
Oamaru Princess's brother Tabasco Force won a 55 second challenge at the Valley earlier this month, only to miss out by 0.2 sec on setting the fastest time of the season and becoming eligible for the new car.
"I think we'll have another crack with this filly after what she's done today," Warren said.
"Her brother almost put me in line for the car the other week and I think she can go just as fast."
Oamaru Princess ($4.20) covered the 1008m of the Centrebet Handicap in 59.77 seconds, scoring by 4-1/2 lengths from Silverscreen Queen ($4.20).
Summer's Day, ($31) held third place a long neck further away.
Oamaru Princess was having her third start for Warren who said anything but a win would have been disappointing.
"I didn't think I could have her any better than she was today, so it's just as well she won," he said.
"I hadn't looked far beyond today, but there'll be another one of those Moonee Valley races for her very soon."
