Solicit preparing for another season

Monday 28 September 2015, 6:18pm

Earlier this year is seemed Solicit's future lay in the broodmare barn but the five-year-old will be given another season to try to snare a Group One win.

Owners David Moodie and Nick Psaltis sent Solicit to Gerald Ryan in Sydney in February hoping a change of environment from her former Melbourne base might spark her to a win before she went to stud.

She had five autumn starts for Ryan, claiming the Group Three Darley Classic at Scone by a long head over Peace Force before her new stablemate turned the tables in the Glenlogan Park Stakes in Brisbane.

"Solicit is back in the stable and will run in a barrier trial on Tuesday," Ryan said.

"David and Nick had her mother and half sister and they said they got better as they got older so they have decided to race her for another season.

"The plan is to give her another trial on Friday week and go first-up into the Tristarc Stakes in Melbourne before the Myer Classic."

Solicit ran fourth in the Myer Classic (1600m) last year when she was in the Flemington stable of Mat Ellerton and Simon Zahra.

Her other Group One performances include a third to Kirramosa in the 2013 VRC Oaks and second to Lucia Valentina in the 2014 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m).

Kirramosa's trainer John Sargent has taken over the training of another former Victorian, Eloping.

Formerly trained by Peter Morgan and Craig Widdison, the multiple stakes winner was transferred to Sargent when Segenhoe principal Kevin Maloney bought shares in the four-year-old.

"She's ready to trial and will more than likely start off in the Tattersall's Lightning later this month," Sargent said.
