Lankan Rupee has been given the seal of approval from jockey Craig Newitt and trainer Mick Price ahead of his spring return after an exhibition gallop at Caulfield.
The five-time Group One winner is set to resume in next Saturday's Group Two Schillaci Stakes (1100m) and Price took the chance to give his stable star a workout between races on Saturday.
Lankan Rupee sat just behind the Robert Smerdon-trained Alpha Miss in the 800m gallop before joining his work partner in the straight.
The pair worked alongside each other to the line in comfortable fashion and Price believes Lankan Rupee is as fit as he needs to be to make a winning return.
"I reckon he's fit enough to win but I reckon I had him fitter for the Lightning (first-up last preparation)," Price said.
"The thing about bringing him here on course, he knows he's at the races. The colour, the sound, it stimulates him up a bit and gets his adrenaline pumping.
"It just takes him to a different level without stressing him out too much."
Newitt said he can't fault Lankan Rupee's action or work and he expects him to be nice and fresh for the Schillaci.
Price and Newitt combined for an early winning double on Saturday's program with three-year-old Invincible Heart winning the opening race and Harveys True Heart won the third event.
