Perth Group One targets on Amovatio agenda

Saturday 10 October 2015, 3:49pm

Chris Waller has end-of-year Group One races in Perth in his sights for Amovatio.

Amovatio resumed with a narrow but convincing win in Saturday's Listed Weekend Hussler Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield after Hugh Bowman had to ride a patient race on the topweight from the outside barrier.

Charging late when clear, Amovatio ($6) scored by a short neck over The Bowler ($4.40) with a nose to Tristram's Sun ($5.50) third.

The Group One Railway Stakes (1600m) in Perth on November 5 and Group One Kingston Town Classic (1800m) two weeks later are on the radar for Amovatio.

Waller said the Group Three Chatham Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on October 31 could be Amovatio's next start before heading west.

He prepared Moriarty to finish third in last year's Railway before winning the Kingston Town, and Amovatio was pinpointed as a candiate for the same races after his Winter Championship Final win at Flemington in July.

"As soon as he won the Winter Final we backed off with that in mind," Waller said.
