Lucia Valentina to run in Caulfield Cup

Trainer Kris Lees has confirmed Lucia Valentina will run in the Caulfield Cup after a pleasing gallop in company with Set Square.

Lees was happy with Lucia Valentina's work-out on the course proper at Caulfield on Tuesday morning and said apart from her unplaced Epsom Handicap run, the mare gave every indication she was going as well as last year.

Lucia Valentina finished third in last year's Caulfield Cup and will be one of two Lees-trained runners in Saturday's 2400m-race with 2014 Melbourne Cup winner Protectionist also taking his place.
