Oisin Murphy to be Qatar Racing's jockey

Thursday 15 October 2015, 7:00am

Oisin Murphy will ride the majority of Qatar Racing's British runners next season.

The 20-year-old, who created a big impression during a stint in Australia in the summer of 2013/14, has been attached to Sheikh Fahad's powerful operation since last August.

He will assume greater control once first-choice jockey Andrea Atzeni leaves his position at the end of the year to become retained rider for Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum.

"He will not be our first jockey, as such, but he will ride the vast majority of our runners in Britain," David Redvers, racing manager for Qatar Racing, said.

"Oisin is showing already that he has a fairly rare talent.

"He's a real team player, a very strong member of our team and the feedback we get from him is exceptional."
