Birchley produces another winning juvenile

Saturday 7 November 2015, 2:07pm

Boom Shucka has continued trainer Liam Birchley's domination of Brisbane juvenile racing with an easy win at Doomben.

Boom Shucka ($2.70) gave his sire Love Conquers All his first Brisbane winner when he strolled home with 5-1/4 lengths over Burn Notice ($3.80) in Saturday's Novotel Brisbane 2YO (1050m).

Birchley has the knack of winning early season two-year-old races and predicted there were more wins in store for Boom Shucka.

"He improved a lot for his first-up defeat in Toowoomba but he was still a bit wayward today," Birchley said.

"I might even back him up in a similar race next Saturday because I think there is even more improvement in him.

"I like the look of the breed and those I have seen can all gallop."

Boom Shucka cost $25,000 at an Inglis sale, making him ineligible for the Magic Millions Classic in which Birchley already holds a strong hand with recent Doomben winner Punishing.

Jockey Matt McGillivray said Boom Shucka had jumped well and travelled nicely throughout even when challenged by Burns Notice.
