Racing will return to the Victorian provincial racetrack Yarra Valley next month after a two-year absence.
Twelve barrier trials featuring 60 horses were held at the racetrack on Monday, clearing the way for a February 17 resumption of racing.
Leading apprentice Katelyn Mallon, close to her own comeback to racing after serious injury, joined Craig Williams and Dwayne Dunn as prominent riders to test the track.
Drainage issues forced the suspension of racing at Yarra Valley in December, 2010 and $2.6 million has been spent on the redevelopment.
"The Victorian Coalition Government has contributed $1.3 million to this major $2.6 million racing infrastructure project," racing minister Dr Denis Napthine said.
"The project has also produced a vastly safer race track for horses and riders and makes the track much less prone to flood events which contributed to its temporary closure for more than two years."
Next month's meeting will be a dress rehearsal for the an official opening during the $100,000 Yarra Valley Cup fixture on March 17.
