Group One placegetter Said Com headlines Saturday's Rosehill meeting and it is no coincidence he is kicking off his campaign early.

The Randwick Guineas runner-up is one of the first carnival horses to resume ahead of the autumn, launching his campaign in Saturday's Jackie McIlrick Handicap (1400m).

Said Com boasts an outstanding fresh record with two wins from three first-up runs but he hasn't always been able to hold that form deep into a preparation.

Trainer Chris Waller is adopting a different tack to help rectify that this autumn.

"We'll probably space his races and that's why he's come in earlier," Waller said.

"It's easy to set horses for races but you've got to make sure you either win the grand final, or you win some money on the way through.

"With a horse like him it's important they win some money on the way through.

"His first run should be a good run and hopefully then he can set himself up for something bigger."

Waller will saddle up last start winner Riva De Lago in the same race and will also have two runners in the TAB.com.au Handicap (1400m), despite originally intending to split Royal Descent and dual acceptor Hoybell.

"I was trying to keep the two apart because they're both promising horses. That was the reason I put Hoybell in the other race, hoping she would run there," Waller said.

Those plans were dashed when the undefeated Hoybell drew the outside barrier in the fillies and mares race and she will now stick to her own age group, setting up a clash with Royal Descent who is also unbeaten.

The Waller-trained trio of Thubiaan, Secessio and Marden will all take their place in the Glen Curtis Handicap (2000m) with the leading trainer particularly looking forward to the return of import Thubiaan who won four races at his initial Australian campaign.

The two-year-old race attracted a final field of eight including the Bjorn Baker-trained Twilight Royale who had been entered for races in both Sydney and Melbourne.

A winner of the Inglis Nursery on debut and second to Swing Vote earlier this month, Twilight Royale is being aimed at the Inglis Premier in Melbourne next month.
