'Cranky' Majaska cleared for race return

Friday 26 February 2016, 5:15pm

The most irritable horse in Sydney racing has been sent to Brisbane in a bid to mend his cantankerous ways.

Majaska was the central figure in a bizarre finish earlier this month when he tried to savage another runner as they were fighting out the minor placings in a race at Canterbury.

His antics earned him a banishment to the barrier trials as well as a new name around trainer Joe Pride's Warwick Farm stables.

"He's now known as The Attacker," Pride said.

"He's never done anything like that before but he is an extremely cranky horse."

Pride said Majaska produced naturally high testosterone levels and that explained the gelding's difficult attitude.

Stewards cleared Majaska to return to racing after a Warwick Farm barrier trial on Monday and he is one of the favourites to win the Southbank Insurance Brokers Handicap at Doomben.

Majaska is one of three runners Pride has sent to Brisbane with Slydini and Eleivue down to clash in the Carlton Mid Plate.

In Sydney, Pride is counting on rain to give Tiger Tees his best chance in the Liverpool City Cup at Randwick.

And he is looking forward to Adorabeel setting herself up for back-to-back wins in the Aspiration Quality with a prominent showing in the Guy Walter Stakes.
