Blinkers to spark Cash in Flemington dash

Wednesday 9 March 2016, 5:51pm

Andrew Noblet is banking on a gear change to help Super Cash overcome a drop in distance for a Listed race at Flemington.

Super Cash will wear blinkers when she heads to the Goodwood Racecourse Trophy over 1100m on Saturday instead of travelling to Adelaide for a 1200m three-year-old race at Morphettville two days later.

The filly resumed at Moonee Valley on February 26, finishing third behind two highly talented opponents, Almighty Girl and Secret Agenda, finishing less than two lengths from the winner.

Noblet said Super Cash had derived benefit from the run.

"She stepped away a little bit slowly and probably ended up a horse further back than what we would have liked," Noblet said.

"We would have liked to be on the back of Secret Agenda, but all in all I was happy with it."

While Super Cash hit the line strongly over 1200m first-up, he said the addition of blinkers and keeping her fresh should be a benefit on Saturday.

Super Cash scored on debut at Sale before a placing on the synthetic track at Geelong last July.

Since September, she has raced in the big league, chasing home Petits Filous over Saturday's course and distance before progressing to the Tranquil Star Stakes and the Thousand Guineas at Caulfield, acquitting herself well.

However Super Cash has only one win to her credit and Saturday's performance will determine what path she takes.

"It's a race by race basis with her," Noblet said.

"There's some nice races in Adelaide she can go in or she could stay here and we can pick out a suitable race and get her winning again."
