Goodwood Cup goal for Trip To Paris

Sunday 29 May 2016, 8:44am

Caulfield Cup runner-up Trip To Paris is expected to make his return from injury in the Goodwood Cup.

Trainer Ed Dunlop has ruled out a defence of the Gold Cup at next month's Royal Ascot meeting and has set his sights on Goodwood in late July.

Trip To Paris injured his tendon in the Japan Cup in late November after running fourth in the Melbourne Cup.

"Trip To Paris is back cantering," Dunlop said.

"He did two canters up Warren Hill the other day and he looks great. He is still a little bit woolly in his coat due to the climatic circumstances.

"The Goodwood Cup will be the earliest he will be out and we will try and have him ready for that."
