Kerrin McEvoy's win on Music Magnate in the Group One Doomben 10,000 puts him closer to two elite Brisbane riding feats.
On Saturday, McEvoy became the first jockey since Graham Cook in 1975 to ride the Doomben Cup-Doomben 10,000 double in the same season after his win on Our Ivanhowe a week earlier.
He now has the chance to join Cook as the rider of the big three in Brisbane racing - Doomben Cup, Doomben 10,000 and Stradbroke.
Music Magnate has been a shortener in Stradbroke markets and is now at $9.
Cook rode Spedito to win the Doomben 10,000-Stradbroke double and Golden Khan to win the Doomben Cup.
He is the only jockey to achieve the treble in the one year while George Moore is the only other rider to win the Doomben Cup and 10,000 in the same season on French Echo and True Leader in 1953.
McEvoy only needs to win the Queensland Derby and BTC Cup to become the first jockey to complete a clean sweep of the modern day Brisbane Group One races.
He will return to ride Music Magnate in the Stradbroke and was full of praise for the manner in which the gelding won the 10,000.
"Before the race Bjorn (trainer Baker) told to me it was going to be a game of chess," McEvoy said.
"It was that, but I didn't expect them to go that quick in the lead," McEvoy said.
He said he had expected to be closer to the pace but got a bump after the start and had to come back.
