An Australian Oaks mission in Sydney is a possibility for Victorian filly Green Roller after she powered to victory in the Listed Strutt Stakes in Hobart on Sunday.
But first the David Hayes-trained three-year-old will tackle the Listed Tasmanian Oaks at Launceston on February 20.
Hayes won that race last year with Rock Robster who went on to run sixth in the Group One Australian Oaks.
Green Roller enjoyed a cosy run in Sunday's 2100m contest before apprentice Chad Schofield got her into the clear from the top of the straight to have the leaders in his sights.
The daughter of Flying Spur let down well to defeat the Darren Weir-trained First Bloom with Papillon from the Anthony Freedman stable third.
"She's always indicated she wants this trip," Hayes' stable representative Gary Fennessy said.
"We'll leave her here for the Oaks at Launceston now. If she comes out of this trip OK she could end up in Sydney."
Schofield said the filly showed a good turn of foot and believes the Tasmanian Oaks is the ideal next step.
"That will be perfect for her. She'll be hard to beat there," he said.
Schofield is due to start a 12-meeting careless riding suspension incurred at Caulfield on Saturday and will return on February 22, a day before the Blue Diamond Stakes meeting.
The Hobart race didn't go to plan for Hayes' other runner, Global Balance. The saddle shifted under Dwayne Dunn shortly after the start which virtually ended her chances.
