Adelaide apprentice Zac Spain has been rewarded for his hard work with speedy mare Jennyfromtheblock by retaining the ride on her in the Lightning Stakes at Eagle Farm.
Trainer Lloyd Kennewell had no hesitation in booking Spain who has ridden the mare in five of her eight wins.
"Zac will be the next big thing in Adelaide racing and possibly Australian racing. He is only 19 but he is very mature and he knows Jennyfromtheblock," Kennewell said.
"He rode her when she won at Moonee Valley at his first ride in Melbourne and I am confident he can repeat the effort at his first Brisbane ride."
Spain has ridden 56 winners this season, including 10 for Kennewell.
Jennyfromtheblock has made the trip to Brisbane in search of black type before see goes to stud.
"She really is a speed horse and she gets out and goes. I would expect her to burst out of the barriers and lead."
Kennewell knows what it takes to win a winter carnival race as he and his father Gary have had considerable success in Queensland with horses such as Rialya (Tattersalls Cup) and Conservatorium (Eye Liner Stakes).
