Pritchard-Gordon has A Lotta Sandown Love

Friday 3 June 2016, 11:53am

Sam Pritchard-Gordon is taking a long-term approach with the best horse in his Mornington stable.

Pritchard-Gordon will resist the temptation to send A Lotta Love to Queensland and instead the mare will run at Sandown on Saturday.

The daughter of Al Mahar is the $4 favourite to win the Ladbrokes Odds Boost Handicap in which she will be ridden by Melbourne's leading apprentice Dylan Dunn.

A Lotta Love is coming off a last-start third in the Group Three Proud Miss Stakes at Morphettville on May 21, a placing that had connections toying with the idea of heading to Brisbane.

"When we looked at previous placegetters of the Proud Miss they've gone on to Queensland with good success," Pritchard-Gordon said.

"But I just thought it was one step too far at this stage of her career.

"The next logical option was to find a nice mares' handicap and look to get her rating up.

"That way when we do bring her back in the early part of the spring we won't have any trouble in getting a run."
