Trainer Ed Dunlop has entered Red Cadeaux for next month's Winter Derby at Lingfield ahead of a possible trip to the World Cup meeting but Cox Plate bound Unbridled Command will not go to Dubai.
Hollywood Derby winner Unbridled Command, who was bought late last year by Kevin and Colleen Bamford, finished third to Animal Kingdom in Florida last weekend.
Dunlop said Red Cadeaux was likely to follow the same end of year program as 2012.
The seasoned traveller could not improve on his second place in the 2011 Melbourne Cup when he returned to Flemington in November but went on to clinch the Hong Kong Vase.
"...we are considering going to Dubai for the World Cup, Sheema Classic or stayers' race and we would have to wait for an invitation," Dunlop said.
"This race is an option beforehand if he needs a race. He's only just back and in work, but everything is going well.
"Towards the end of the year there are the same targets, and there's also the possibility of running in Japan in April for a valuable race called the Tenno Sho.
"Dubai was discussed for Unbridled Command but he's not going to go there.
"He will come over to me and ultimately be trained for the Cox Plate."
