Jockey Allan Chau fractures C2

Popular Northern Rivers jockey Allan Chau was due to be transferred from Grafton to the Gold Coast Hospital on Sunday after confirmation he suffered a fractured C2 in a race fall.

Chau was involved in the fall at Grafton on Saturday and was taken to Grafton Base Hospital where he was assessed and the injury confirmed.

The Hong Kong born jockey spent four of the five years of his apprenticeship with the late Pat Quinn who moved to Port Macquarie in 2003 after a successful career in Sydney.

Jockey Alison Threadwell escaped with a fractured left hand in a fall at Muswellbrook on Saturday.

She will have surgery on Monday.
