Chris Waller celebrated his 100th for the season Sydney in appropriate style on Saturday - with one more in Melbourne.
Within 20 minutes of She's Clean bringing up the ton in the Triscay Stakes at Warwick Farm, Waller claimed the Group Two Peter Young Stakes (1800m) at Caulfield with Foreteller.
In a performance that opened the door on an Australian Cup start at Flemington in two weeks, Foreteller ($14) came from last to score by a long neck from the West Australian Mr Moet ($4).
Budriguez ($10) was a short half-head away in third place after Brett Prebble almost stole the race with a well-judged front-running ride.
While Foreteller's win put a question mark over the autumn plans of several of his rivals, Dunn said it was less-than-conclusive from an Australian Cup viewpoint.
"A genuine run race at 2000m could be a different story," Dunn said.
"But he's won well enough and deserves to be there."
Mr Moet's run around the field into second place provided as much guidance for the future as the winner's.
The slow pace didn't favour either he or the fourth-placed Mawingo, both of whom remain on course for the Flemington race.
A greater disappointment was Prairie Star who appeared to travel well in second place until the pressure went on and he weakened to finish sixth.
Waller opens his permanent Melbourne stable next week at Flemington.
