The chances of Hobart Cup winner Hurdy Gurdy Man improving on that performance when he runs in Wednesday's Launceston Cup may be limited.
But trainer Darren Weir is satisfied a repeat of the Hobart effort of two weeks ago will be enough to secure another trophy and a handy bonus.
"He was at his top for the Hobart Cup, I just hope he can hold that level," Weir said.
"He's got two kilos more which won't help, but we know he runs the 2400 metres so we had to come back for another crack."
Any trainer who wins Tasmania's Cups double receives a $50,000 bonus on top of the $135,000 first prize offered in the Group Three race.
Hurdy Gurdy man will again have the services of Glen Boss who is almost as keen as the trainer to return to Tasmania.
"The way he won at Hobart should be good enough," Boss said.
"They're the same horses, same chances, and he handled them all right."
Hurdy Gurdy Man's two kilogram penalty for the Hobart win puts him on 56kg and gives the horses who finished closest to him there the chance to turn the tables.
The Cleaner, who finished 1-1/4 lengths behind Hurdy Gurdy Man has the same weight (57.5kg) on Wednesday and third placegetter Geegees Blackflash is again carrying 59.5kg.
"As long as he's held his form the figures are still just with him," Weir said.
"I think he has and I hope I'm right."
Weir also runs Lord Of Brazil in the main support race to the Cup, the Listed George Adams Plate (1600m).
The ultra-consistent galloper has won seven of his past 13 starts and at his most recent outing at Caulfield was beaten less than a length by Budriguez at level weights.
Budriguez made the form stand up at his next start when a close third in at Group Two level at Caulfield on Saturday.
