Jockey Glyn Schofield is happy to back the judgment of Adelaide trainer Tony McEvoy who has decided to travel to Sydney to chase a stakes win with Pelicano.
The last stayer McEvoy brought to Rosehill for a feature race was Le Roi and Schofield partnered him to victory in the Group Three Summer Cup on Boxing Day.
"When Tony brings them up they're always in good form," Schofield said.
Pelicano will make his Sydney debut in Saturday's Listed Parramatta Cup (2000m) at Rosehill.
The four-year-old was placed at Flemington in an 1800m race on Victoria Oaks day last spring and finished runner-up in the Ballarat Cup.
He comes to Sydney in good form having won his past two starts, the most recent a Listed success over 2000m at Morphettville after McEvoy elected to bypass a strong Mornington Cup.
He will line up against nine rivals including the promising Frozen Rope, a winner of eight of his 17 starts who is facing his first stakes test.
