Nash Rawiller to stick with More Joyous

Monday 11 March 2013, 5:34pm

Nash Rawiller will honour his commitment to More Joyous in the Canterbury Stakes despite the expected presence of star colt Pierro.

Rawiller said he did not have to make a choice between the Gai Waterhouse-trained stablemates having already committed to More Joyous on whom he has won seven Group One races for owner John Singleton.

The jockey took to Twitter to clarify his position.

"No decision was made by me in regards to More Joyous and Pierro, I have a commitment to the great mare in that race and I will Honor it," Rawiller tweeted.

More Joyous has won the past two runnings of the Canterbury Stakes (1300m) which has been elevated to Group One level this year.

Jim Cassidy takes the mount on Pierro after Waterhouse decided to bypass Saturday's Randwick Guineas (1600m) with the colt who resumed with a hard-fought victory in the Hobartville Stakes on a heavy track last Saturday week.

Rawiller will miss the Guineas meeting after failing in an appeal on Monday to have a careless riding suspension reduced.
