Two of the world's best jockeys will compete on Blue Diamond Stakes day for the first time with Ryan Moore and Joao Moreira each on live chances in the Group One race Caulfield.
Moreira, the champion rider in Hong Kong, will partner the Robert Smerdon-trained Property in Victoria's premier juvenile race on Saturday while English rider Moore will be out to add to his Australian big-race wins on the Coolmore-owned Formality.
Moore's hit and run missions to Australia in recent years have been highlighted by his wins in the 2014 Melbourne Cup on Protectionist and that year's Cox Plate on Adelaide.
Moreira is no stranger to Australian Group One success having won an Epsom Handicap in Sydney in 2014 on He's Your Man and two Group One sprints at Flemington on Brazen Beau in the 2014 Coolmore Stud Stakes and 2015 Newmarket Handicap.
He was narrowly beaten aboard Heartbreak City by Almandin in a driving finish to last year's Melbourne Cup.
Both Moreira and Moore will be riding at Caulfield for the first time, with Moore having two rides on Saturday's program while Moreira has seven.
Moreira reunites with the mare Sheidel in the Group One Oakleigh Plate having won aboard the sprinter in a Group Three race at Flemington during last year's Melbourne Cup carnival.
Formality is unbeaten in two starts and is at $7.50 in the $1.5 million Blue Diamond while Moreira's mount Property is at $7.
