Zabeel racks up 46th individual G1 winner

Thursday 16 March 2017, 4:56pm

Zabeel has passed the record of his champion sire Sir Tristram with Lizzie L'Amour giving him his 46th individual Group One winner.

Ridden by Matthew Cameron, the mare won Thursday's Bonecrusher NZ Stakes at Ellerslie for trainers Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman and owner/breeder Lorna Moore.

The late Zabeel, who stood at New Zealand's famous Cambridge Stud, equalled Sir Tristram's Group One tally when Provocative won last year's Queensland Oaks.

"For a small breeder this is everything," Moore told Trackside.

"And also to do it for Zabeel."

Forsman said the Caulfield Cup in the spring was a possibility for Lizzie L'Amour who beat 2016 Brisbane Cup winner Benzini in the 2000m-race.
