Oscietra's work to decide Adelaide start

Thursday 13 April 2017, 12:27pm

David Hayes will monitor the progress of Black Caviar's filly Oscietra out of her Flemington jump-out before deciding whether the two-year-old heads back to the races or is sent for another spell.

Oscietra stepped out for her second jump-out in as many weeks at Flemington on Thursday morning and Hayes said the filly did not trial as well as she had done previously.

The first foal of undefeated champion Black Caviar, Oscietra won two jump-outs late last year before making her debut at Flemington on New Year's Day when she finished third to Limestone.

Oscietra finished second in a jump-out at Flemington a week ago and finished fourth on Thursday in an 800m heat ahead of a possible race return in the Listed Queen Adelaide Stakes (1050m) at Morphettville on May 6.

"She trialled this morning and probably didn't trial as well as she has done the other times," Hayes told RSN927.

"She got it a little bit wrong. We tried holding her up and she slightly resented it and over-raced, and didn't finish like I know she can.

"So we'll just take our time with her, take her back to Lindsay Park and if she's still working well, we'll certainly run her.

"But if she doesn't work well after the trial that she put in today, I'll probably turn her out."
