Moment Of Change takes on Gai's superstars

Moment Of Change faces Sydney's champion mare and a rising superstar in the Canterbury Stakes but trainer Peter Moody says the sprinter's high-profile rivals will know they are in a race.

Moment Of Change lines up in the star-studded weight-for-age event at Rosehill on Saturday which is highlighted by a clash between glamour mare More Joyous and her younger Gai Waterhouse-trained stablemate Pierro.

But Moody says Moment Of Change is "flying" and will be a worthy opponent.

"Obviously we're taking on Pierro and More Joyous," Moody said.

"More Joyous, the Black Caviar of Sydney, she's all bar unbeatable there. And Pierro, the rising superstar of racing along with All Too Hard to maybe take Black Caviar's mantle.

"But this horse is going absolutely super."

Moment Of Change ran a gallant second at weight-for-age to Black Caviar first-up in the Lightning Stakes and then led the field up in the Newmarket Handicap before being grabbed late by the three-year-old Shamexpress.

"He'll know he's in a race but I reckon they'll know he's there too," Moody said.

The Canterbury Stakes (1300m) will be run at Group One level for the first time on Saturday and has attracted a stellar 10-horse field including seven Group One winners.

More Joyous and Pierro have been installed equal favourites at $2.40 with TAB fixed odds while Moment Of Change is considered their biggest danger at $6.

Moment Of Change is no stranger to Sydney having had five of his 11 starts there including a Show County Quality win last preparation.

His Sydney campaign is also set to include the George Ryder Stakes and possibly the Doncaster Mile or All Aged Stakes.

Moody said there was also the option for Moment Of Change to have a European campaign.

"There's not a lot of value in that being a gelding but that will be an owners decision," Moody said.
